From April 2010, child maintenance will be fully disregarded when calculating all out-of-work benefits. This will allow parents with the main day-to-day care to
keep every penny of their child maintenance payments, where maintenance is paid.
From 12th April, parents who are in receipt of out-of-work benefits will be able to keep all of their benefit. Currently, parents are allowed to keep just £20 of
any child maintenance each week, and any extra is deducted from benefit.
